Assassin’s Creed Pirates is a pirate-themed Action RPG featured with real-time naval combat and a dynamic 3D world. Although with some Assassin’s Creed trace, the game is more of a traditional naval battle simulator. Set in the Caribbean Sea, it thrusts players into a casual adventurous journey as free spirited pirates battling for fame and hidden treasure.

Assassin's Creed Pirates

Players in Assassin’s Creed Pirates will enter the role of Alonzo Batilla, an ambitious pirate and captain, who sets sails to the open sea towards his goal of becoming the most feared and a legend. The game features tons of missions players can take to sail through check points, jump into fray in battle and search for hidden fortune. Battle is fought in real time and can be controlled with simple dodge, sail and fire operations. Since there is only ship-to-ship attack, battle becomes monopoly soon with the repetitiveness; if there is anything variable, it is the changing weather system that creates a dynamic open-sea battlefields with storms, fogs and lightning as great back settings.

By completion of tasks, players can collect spoils, strengthen their captain with better attributes and build up a more powerful ship. Players in the game can get a variety of ships varying in size, power and battle style and hire more and more crew unlocking dozens of techniques that increase the power of the ship in combat. Both ships and crew can be upgraded with spoils and bounty gained in victory.

Assassin’s Creed Pirates is in fact not well named since the Assassin’s Creed doesn’t play as important a role in the gameplay as it is supposed. The conflict between Assassins and Templars is mentioned in some missions and there are some familiar characters, but that’s all about that franchise.

Assassin’s Creed Pirates is overall a casual and beautiful naval battle game with a welcomed pirate theme. It is localized into 11 languages and can be downloaded for $4.99 for both iOS and Android.
