Black Gold

Black Gold is a steampunk-styled MMORPG that is developed under the concerted efforts of Russia-based Mental Games and Snail Game behind another anticipated game known as Age of Wulin. Currently worked, it is now known much except what’s unveiled in the debut video and a brief backstory.

Black Gold is set in world where fantasy blends with technology. In-game world is charted with two separated lands, Erlandir and Eisenhorst, by a mountain range. Blocking by the chain of mountains, the sun shines only in the Eastern Erlandir, leaving the other half sunk in forever darkness.

Not only is light concerned. Sunlight blesses the land of Erlandir with various natural elements, which after centuries’ accumulation generate the precious resource, e.g. Black Gold. Black Gold powers not only magic but also steam engines, so it’s vital for Erlandir inhabitants, including Humans, Koshs and Brues, to develop and prosper.

Yet on the other side of the world, Dwarves, Humans and Vampires in the dark Eisenhorst form a Steam Alliance and manage their life on the basis of steam tech powered mainly by coal. But war and consumption drain coals quickly, which incurs a resource shortage crisis. To solve the problem, leader of the Steam Alliance decides to invade Erlandir for the Black Gold.

That’s the moment players are ushered in, taking one side and writing an end for the story.
