Dawn of Fantasy is a 3D real-time strategy MMO against a mediaeval setting. It’s spun a fantastic lore of three races, Humans, Orcs and Elves, at war against each other for their kingdoms’ survival and thriving.

All takes place in the vast land of Mythador. In-game 3D graphics are pretty with varied landscapes rendered at length (with shining effects and animations) as well as changing weather or season. While we take quests, say, fighting, collecting resources and exploring, etc., we can drink in the beautiful environments and immerse into what we are engaging. And the back sound also does its bit, since music tunes into a different beat as gaming environment changes. Yet it will be great if the soundtrack for battle scenes sees greater variety instead of being one.

As most real-time strategy game, resources also play important role in building up a powerful realm or army. Food, wood and gold are abundant in the rich land of Mythodar. Conquer the land and get the resources. That’s one of the reasons why we are constantly at war. And gold and coins can also be gained in other ways, such as corpse loot, quest, or victory reward in battles, etc..

Three game modes are available at present. The basic single-player mode is driven by realm-serving quests, which may send us to build new buildings or collect resources. Then warfare comes into play. Similarly styled single-player, this mode is based on combat and played on the same online kingdom maps, but excludes the building and resource-collecting part. And the rest is the skirmish mode, with both single and multiplayer online options, which gives the fullest play to strategy as well as teamwork. Moreover, another two centering twelve NPC strongholds are playable in the last mode.

Dawn of Fantasy has its pros and cons, gladly with the former in upper hands. A new title though it is, it’s promised with further patches and expansions added in, perhaps with more playable races/realms and game modes.
