NatGeo: World of Secrets is a new exploration-adventure themed Hidden Object game newly released by 6waves on Facebook. Following the guidance of explorers at the National Geographic Society in Washington D.C., you will mark your footsteps on seven different locations from the Arctic to Egypt to the Yucatan peninsula.

In NatGeo: World of Secrets, you start a new life of exploration and adventure by an accidental discovery of a carrier pigeon and a letter. Following the clues there, you help rescue an exploration team in the Arctic who are trapped by ship wreckage. And you start traveling worldwide, enjoying adventure while accomplishing missions or rescue or searching for treasure.

NatGeo: World of Secrets

The game features 27 different hidden object scenes over 7 distinct locations. The core gameplay of searching for hidden objects is conventional. You find the objects in the list as soon as possible before the five-minute timer runs out. And you win a score based on your accuracy, speed and skill, which will fill in the meter of your skill level. You can use a variety of hints that are purchasable with coins to help facilitate your performance. At the end of each game, you will also gain some items you found in the scene and you will use in the construction of your museum. As to the difficulty level, some scenes such as those on the map of Arctic are quite challenging, with some objects half buried in the white snow while others being blended into places they don’t usually belong to.

The game maintains the established structure of a blend of construction and searching. You play scenes to find many materials from pocket watches to maps and win coins, then use them to craft cool stuff that can be placed in your own museum, and then unlock new scenes you can access. There are more than 160 quests you can take and finish. As you explore in different scenes, you can find different artifacts unique in specific locations and use them to make exhibits you can place in your museum to show off.

If you don’t want to spend premium currency in buying certain needy materials, you will have to replay scenes many times to get them. To reduce the boredom of replaying, each scene can be played in several different modes like the silhouette style of playing. But still, tedium emerges with the repeat of playing the same scenes.

NatGeo: World of Secrets is an average in the crowded hidden object genre. It doesn’t surprise us with anything new and exciting in the core mechanics or impressive scene design in the raise-the-bar level. It is solid as many of its contenders for the best, but still a good timewaster for leisure.
