MMORTS is too common to stir any big interests among players, casual or hardcore. What if there were full control of characters as in MMORPG, fast-paced combat in great variety and 3D world with great visuals added to the common RTS involving resource collection, structure construction and unit deployment? I guess, it wins over your attention. It’s Soul Master.

Soul Master

Soul Master is a hybrid, if not innovative, game that blends RTS, role-playing, action and MMO elements together to make a unique presentation. Defined as a MMORTS, it offers the strategy mainstays from resource management and structure building to tech-tree and units build-up. That’s only a small portion of the gameplay, though. The nice catch behind the tactics is the independent, complete MMORPG-style control of character and squad-based fast combat.

There are several character classes to choose from, with specific skills and abilities for each archetype. And characters develop as players gain XP from PvE missions of various modes, be it escort, boss raid or AI battle. Besides rich PvE modes, it also features couples of modes such as duel, free-for-all and team-based tournament for player conflict. Non-targeting combat has combined the direct control over characters and a, simplified command of multiple units (due to an independent trooping system) in the fast-paced MMO-style battles. Moreover, it features rich item customization that deepens the tactics by enabling player to personalize characters, buildings and units, etc. with stats bonuses.

Soul Master was first released back to 2010 but shut down in December of that year. Originally slated to re-release in the summer of 2011, the game simply didn’t re-launch as planned, without any explanation from its developers or publishers. Now, gamigo, its publisher in Europe, is inviting players to register for CBT at its website, confirmed date unavailable. When will players be able to preview this great game? And what will be changed, improved or added in it? Wait to check out.
